Moldavite jewelry

Moldavite is a rare Czech gemstone with a fascinating origin, believed to have formed from the heat and pressure of a meteorite impact on Earth. Its unique inner structure and variety of green hues make each moldavite one of a kind. Found primarily in South Bohemia, this captivating stone is highly prized for fine jewelry. With a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale, moldavite is more delicate than many gemstones but remains a stunning and worthwhile choice.

What colors do moldavites come in?

Moldavite's color ranges from light green to dark brown-green. Its excellent luster and clarity, combined with its unique hue, give it a distinct and mysterious appearance that is highly sought after in jewelry.

What are the most popular cuts for moldavites?

Moldavite is typically cut into rounded shapes such as round, oval, and teardrop, which best showcase its unique color and clarity. For rings and necklaces, the cushion cut (a square with rounded corners) is particularly popular, as it highlights the stone's vibrant green tones.

How is the weight of moldavites measured?

The weight of moldavites is expressed in carats (ct) to two decimal places, with 1 ct equal to 0.20 g. For earrings and jewelry with multiple moldavites, we provide the total carat weight of all stones in the product details.

Where does moldavite come from?

Most moldavites are from the Czech Republic, primarily found in the South Bohemia region, with smaller deposits in South Moravia. It was formed around 15 million years ago as a result of a meteorite impact that created intense heat and pressure, fusing terrestrial material with the meteorite itself. This unique event gives moldavite its characteristic green color, natural inclusions, and textured surface, making it a one-of-a-kind gemstone.

As a local Czech brand from Prague, we carefully select moldavites for our jewelry to ensure you receive only the finest quality stones.
